Case study for Sungard Availability Services:
How News UK published its papers on time despite a terrorist atrocity
Business challenge:
Case studies are valuable collateral as they add credibility by demonstrating experience and expertise. They can also show prospective customers relevant experience in a specific sector. In this example, we tell the story of how Sungard Availability Services enabled its customer News UK to continue business as usual, despite being caught up in the London Bridge terror atrocity. The combined vehicle ramming and stabbing attack took place right on its doorstep.
Solution:
We interviewed Sungard AS customer News UK to gather all the information needed, including some strong quotes on Sungard Availability Services‘ performance. The resulting story showed how News UK was able to meet its obligation to readers to continue reporting the news, despite potential business interruptions. Even though its London Bridge HQ was locked down and inaccessible, News UK’s thorough contingency plans meant it was able to publish all editions and formats of the Sunday Times and the Sun on Sunday the next day, in full and on time. Our case study explained how this was achieved and served as proof of Sungard AS‘ capabilities, making it a highly effective sales tool.
